I really do miss my grandma

I really do miss my grandma, she passed away in September.

As a young child Mom worked all the time and we lived with my grandparents.

If I was sick, grandma was the one to fill the vaporizer and put a wash cloth on my forehead.

She always tucked me in a bed with crisp sheets, tucked in so tight
I could barely move, and they always smelled so good.

I had to be in bed by nine, but would sneak out of my room to lay in the hallway
and listen to the adults talk and fall asleep there.
Id get into trouble for it by grandma but granddad laughed and made me a cardboard
para scope so I could peak around the corner.

I would play house in the willow tree in their front yard. I tied back the branches as curtains.

Grandma rode a roller coaster with me at the Worlds Fair.

She took me and all my cousins to Disney World almost every summer as teens.

In about 1998 I taught grandma to use instant messenger.
A few days later, my current boyfriend of a few years broke up with me, I was devastated.
Late that night I was on the computer and grandma messaged me,
I was so upset, she drove to my house across town after midnight and picked me up.

Took me back to her house and stayed up with me while I just sat and cried.

Not many people know this but when I was really young I had a child I gave up for adoption.
After the baby was gone with his new parents,
and mom had to return to work... grandma took care of me,
she wrapped my chest so I wouldn't have pains from my milk coming in.
I stayed with her for a while.
We didn't really talk about it, I mean I know she disapproved.
But it didn't matter, she always had unconditional love for me, I was her little girl.

She talked to me and all my cousins on the phone for hours, about everything, and nothing...
at times in my life she was the closest thing I had to a best friend.

I wish I could talk to her now. Tell her about my day...

Did I mention I really really miss my grandma?

caffeinated dog

Layoffs at my work, and well at places all over the US. I hope we pull out of this recession soon. Things are getting ugly. I’m still employed, loving what I do, and m so thankful. :)

Today Alanna grabbed the coffee can off the counter and poured half of it in the dog food bowl, the other half she poured in the dog water bowl. It was a total mess, but the kitchen smells great!! I should mop with coffee more often! Joe and I have always wondered when they were going to come out with an air freshener that smelled like Starbucks.

Kieran spent the night with some friends last night and they apparently had fun. He will be 10 soon. TEN, can you freakin’ believe that?

Joe’s watching the Steelers game, they appear to be winning. When it’s over Im hoping to get to watch the grand finale episode of Stargate Atlantis. Couch Potato r us. But hey! I did 4 loads of laundry and wrote a blog on The SSIS Pivot Task today!
